Professional Training
MATTS offers a STAT approved three-year professional training course for teachers made up of 1600 class hours, together with some home study.

Graduates are certified by the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT), the original and largest representative and regulatory professional body for Alexander teachers, and are eligible to join the Society as teaching members and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council's UK Register. The STAT Certificate is also recognised by the 16 affiliated national societies.

Full-time training usually takes three years. However, nowadays many students choose to train part-time with a completely flexible training schedule.
Classes and Intensive Courses
MATTS welcomes occasional or regular visits to our classes by experienced students.
We also offer individually designed courses for people who have had a foundation course of lessons and who would like to deepen their Alexander Technique skills in an intensive group setting.

These courses are also suitable for those who have an interest in training and would like to explore this further before making a commitment to train.
Postgraduate Study
Qualified teachers may join our training course for a period of postgraduate study.
This is especially beneficial for newly qualified teachers who wish to enhance their skills in a friendly and supportive environment, for teachers who have taken a break from teaching and wish to refresh their hands-on skills and for those who wish to develop their confidence and/or would like to have some time to focus on their own professional development.

Postgraduate study is open to teachers of all backgrounds and levels of experience and is available for any period of time required.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
MATTS offers a special weekly opportunity for professional development at the "Thursday Class" specifically designed for teachers of all levels of experience to meet and work in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

These special classes run on 36 weeks each year as part of the Teacher Training School and we usually number around 16, about half of whom are qualified teachers.

In addition to Thursdays, all qualified teachers are always welcome to visit our classes on any training day, without notice.
