Different ways of studying at MATTS
The Manchester Alexander Technique Training School (MATTS) offers a number of different ways to study the Alexander Technique, ranging from individual lessons and regular practical classes to professional teacher training and continuing professional development for qualified teachers.

The school operates as an open and collaborative learning environment in which trainee teachers, long-term students, performing artists, other visitors and qualified Alexander Technique teachers work alongside one another as part of the ordinary working life of the school.

Some people attend occasionally for classes and workshops. Others visit regularly over many years. Some visiting students eventually decide to undertake professional training, while qualified teachers often continue participating in practical classes and hands-on groups as part of their ongoing professional development.

We encourage prospective students to visit the school and experience the atmosphere and teaching directly before deciding how they would like to participate.

The environment at MATTS is open, friendly and highly engaged, both intellectually and practically. Although the training is rigorous and systematic, the atmosphere is relaxed, supportive and non-judgemental. Visitors are welcome throughout the academic year.
