Visit Us

We look forward to welcoming you to MATTS!

Qualified teachers, trainee teachers, prospective trainee teachers and other students are all welcome to visit the school and spend time with us. Visitors are free to participate as much or as little as they wish within the ordinary practical life of the school.

For students, the first visit is free and subsequent visits are £66 per class.

There is no formal charge for qualified teachers visiting the school, although a small voluntary contribution towards overheads is appreciated. More recently qualified teachers are generally asked to contribute £25 per class.

Visiting the school

Classes are informal and flexible. Visitors are welcome to arrive late or leave early as needed. Previous visitors, trainees and qualified teachers are welcome to simply turn up without giving advance notice. Thursdays and Fridays are usually the busiest days and are often particularly suitable for visitors, especially teachers interested in CPD and postgraduate support. Please contact us to arrange a first visit.

The number of teachers and students varies considerably from day to day and from week to week. MATTS currently has 16 trainee teachers (May 2026), most of whom train part-time, and several regular and occasionally attending students.

Practical information

Tea, coffee and snacks are provided during the morning break at 11.00, and there is usually home-made cake or bread on Thursdays. The tea break is an important social part of the day and visitors are always encouraged to join us.

Wilmslow is an easy place to visit, with fast rail connections, Manchester Airport nearby and a wide range of accommodation, cafés and restaurants within walking distance of the school.
