Summer Term 2026

1/ Sunday May 10th, 10 to 1pm, "How to work with Hyper-mobility in an Alexander lesson" with Julie Barber.

Recognising and understanding HM gives us insight as to why, for example, a student may be simultaneously both ‘too loose’ and yet ‘too tight’, or have under (or over) developed proprioception, or frequent soft tissue injuries such as sprains, strains and tendonitis, or more serious conditions such as POTS, EDS or fibromyalgia.

We’ll learn how to recognise it, appreciate how it may affect more than just joints, and explore helpful ways of working with our hands and direction. There’ll be time for discussion, shared experiences and hands-on.

Julie Barber has been interested in HM since 2012. £40 for teachers £30 for students. To book please be in touch with Judithkleinman@gmail.com

2/  "Singing from the Inside Out” workshop with Abigal Brown on Thursday May 28th 7pm to 9pm.

We will be using a holistic approach to growing a freer and more authentic resonance when singing and speaking. There will be an emphasis on the 5 pure Vowels.

Abigal is a musician and singer who works with a natural embodied approach to working with the voice. Abigal sings and plays the violin professionally as well as teaching and running choirs.

£20 for teachers and students. To book please be in touch with Judithkleinman@gmail.com

3/ Sunday June 14th 2pm to 5pm “Understanding the Childhood Reflex’s", looking at the impact they can have on our own use patterns and how they can inform our observation in teaching. We will explore the interconnection with Dart work and how we can use some simple directed activities to help our students find skilful ways of working on themselves, and connecting to a sense of wholeness, balance and ease.

£40 for teachers £30 for students. To book please be in touch with Judithkleinman@gmail.com

4/ Thursday 18th June 7 to 9pm. “Are Emotions and Sensations Real?” Integrating Somatic Experiencing and the Alexander Technique, with Daniela Sangiorgio says; This is a workshop where I will share how I integrate my Somatic Experiencing skills when teaching the Alexander Technique.

We will explore the importance of acknowledging, making conscious and honouring the internal emotional world of our students to empower them with agency and healthy boundaries. Can students say “no” or express their needs during lessons and in their everyday lives? By validating the affects and sensations they experience in the present moment we cultivate trust, connection and safety. We will also explore how students’ body language can reveal insights into their internal state in relation to their nervous systems.

Daniela Sangiorgio is an Alexander Technique teacher who trained at Lcatt London and as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (the work of Peter Levine, author of 'Waking the Tiger"). She is also a Buteyko breathing instructor and a Craniosacral therapist. www.mindisbody.co.uk, dsan294@yahoo.co.uk
